Overview
The survey aims to assess the psychosocial functioning of children in a rural area of South Africa with high HIV prevalence. It is the first part of a randomised controlled trial as baseline for testing efficacy of a combination of two established school- based interventions developed by a non governmental organisation called Soul CityData will be analyzed on the individual and household level. Each row in the dataset will represent a unique child. Each column represents a psychological outcome measure or a census outcome measure (ie, events that happened to the child). All data will be considered in relation to the child.
Coverage
· All children in DSS who are 10 -12 years old as of 7th August 2007 (start date for first school in study).o Separated into those that took part in the Kulani baseline from one of the following schools
1. Hibemandla
2. Mhlahle
3. Jan Rikhotso
4. Mhlava Khosa
5. Hokisa
6. Cunningmore
7. John Khosa
8. Saringwa
9. Manyakatane
10.Nkulungwana
o And those who weren't part of the Kulani baseline (for comparison of differences to make sure the sample was representative (on age, sex, SES, living parents)
